It is with great pleasure that I take this opportunity to welcome you to Wiggins College Preparatory Lab School for the 2011-2012 School Year. We are extremely proud of our school and encourage you to make the most of your time with us. The new school year brings us new hope about what we can do in our school to improve the learning environment for all of our students.
Whether you are joining us for the first time or a returning student, we encourage you to become an active participate in all that our school has to offer. We have an excellent academic program, in addition to many other activities, to help our students become well rounded, mature young adults.
We are working to "Move our students from PreK to B.A." Our dedicated staff is committed to excellence in the delivery of instruction by engaging in on-going research-based professional development activities. We have several new initiatives that will be initiated through the School Improvement Grant that the school will be implementing over the next three years:
- Extended Day
- Saturday School
- Project Based Studies
- Professional Learning Communities
- Parent Workers
Parent and community involvement is integral to the success of our students. We encourage our parents and community to take an active role in the events of our school. We also solicit the assistance of our students, parents and community in making sure that our students behave in a manner that is appropriate for school and adhere to the school rules. We encourage all of our students to:
- Wear the school uniform every day - navy blue, light blue or white tops and navy blue or khaki bottoms.
- Use good manners with adults and fellow students.
- Do homework every night.
- Read 100 Book Challenge leveled books at least 30 minutes at home each day.
- Get to school at 8:00 AM every day.
- Be respectful to teachers, staff, and students.
- Learn as much as possible!
I look forward to the new school year with great excitement and I hope all of our students will have a rewarding and successful school year!
In service for our children,
Mrs. Lana L.P. Murray
Principal
